Cast on using the Provisional Cast-on and Hemmed Edge by Molly Conroy for Hands on Knitting Center.
I decided to do the skirt in the round so I cast on 154 stitches for size 18 months. I join the provisional edge to the skirt after 8 stitches then continued in blue for 2 more rounds for a 10 row color repeat.
I felt the waist need a little more structure so I did an icord bind-off in navy and then picked up the front and the back stitches in red and worked flat. I used the 3 needle bind-off for the shoulder seams.
I tried using an applied icord for the armhole trim but it looked a little sloppy and I think I was picking up too many stitches. I tried it again with a smaller needle but I still didn’t like it. I ended up picking up the stitches called for in the contrasting blue then did an icord bind-off using a size 3 needle….much better! I used a Kitchener stitch to join the beginning to the end.
I have it soaking now and am HOPING it won’t bleed. :)
All is good! It turned out adorable!
