Notes

Beautiful yarn, beautiful pattern.

But I feel I might be insane starting this project.

Additionally, I have never done steeks before. So there’s that.

Oh, and the recommended needle size is 2-3-4… I’m on a 6-7-8. Tense, much?

5/18/12: I don’t know if I’ve ever spent this much time on any single project. It’s just-- it’s enjoyable to knit and I feel a sense of accomplishment every time I finish a row, but there are just so many rows! /whine

If I weren’t so strict about only having one WIP at a time, I might do something quick and gratifying in the meanwhile. I’m maybe 3/4ths finished with Chart B, which means I’m getting towards the end of the body… but then there are sleeves! And steeks! And the edging around the neck and fronts! And all the duplicate stitching! D: I am looking forward to all of these things individually, but goddamn if it isn’t all a bit much.

5/22/12: Finished the torso-piece today. I am so dismayed by how much left there is to do! I mean, I’m pleased with how it looks, and all, but dang if there still isn’t a huge amount of work left. D: Tomorrow, sleeves.

5/27/12: Started the second sleeve today. My parents are in town so I think I might make my mother hold my hand metaphorically whilst I cut the steeks. So afeared of this. I am also sooo ready to be done with this project.

6/18/12: I am so sick of this sweater. I am shortening the neck edging the way I did the sleeve edges to just do a zig-zag and not zig-zag-zig. I am currently halfway done and just used this really great one-row buttonhole. I hated the way the buttons were placed in the original so I’m hoping this solves the problem. We shall see!

6/22/12: So apart from sewing on four buttons, I am finished. I don’t know how I feel about this project. I don’t think it looks all that great on me but it is lovely in general. Time shall tell.

6/23/12: Purchased buttons and will soon secure them. I have decided that I rather like the way it looks. I wore it today, despite the fact that it was a 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. I also realized that it looks exactly like something one of my fictional characters would wear and am, therefore, changing its name.
