Notes

Most of these little guys will go to Jewish Family Services who do a lot of social work with children but some will also be going to local nursing homes. Apparently many of the seniors there, especially those with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s love having soft cuddly things to hold and hug.

When my granddaughter comes to visit, she hugs & kisses each one to fill them with love & names each one. I use blank business cards & write “Hi! My name is _____. What is your name” & attach a card to their wrists & sew a heart to the back of each so the recipient knows that the little guys are given with love.

The Noo Noo doll (Lily) is my first crocheted doll & completely made from various Caron Simply Soft worsted/aran that I had in my scrap stash. The next one I make will have a more coordinated outfit.

Each stuffed guy has safety eyes & I use non-toxic puff fabric paint to make belly buttons (Rebecca Danger uses “X”) & mouths. I found the puffed hearts at Build-A-Bear but I had to contact the main office to order them as the individual stores were not allowed to sell them.

The first batch of monsters, hats & shawls were delivered today to the Y Head Start in Carbondale & Jewish Family Services of NEPA in Scranton.

10/24/17: The Y requested that monsters specifically for the Head Start Program (3-5 year olds) do not have the safety eyes or anything they can choke on so I am making a bunch with everything painted on using non-toxic fabric puff paint including the hearts that I normally sew on their backs.
