Almost 30 hours on these socks! Not a difficult pattern, but I spent way too much time trying to knit TAAT, which is definitely not my forte. The LT took a while for me to master working Continental, but with a little time it’s really quite easy and I enjoyed working this pattern. Very easy to read, no constant referring to charts. I would work it again.
The wool I’m using has subtle amber highlights (reeaally subtle), and in the context of Shur’tugal socks, remind me of the dragon Fírnen, whose scales are said to be the color of forest leaves and his eyes are amber.
7/1 4 repeats done on the first sock. I almost frogged and restarted with 64 stitches, but in the end decided to continue and make them with longer legs than I typically knit. Concerned about the fit of the heel. I may have to use my first ever lifeline in a sock in case it’s too big. I wish I were brave enough to try the FLK heel in pattern.
7/5 First sock is complete, and hopefully I can get the 2nd one finished tomorrow. I have 3 repeats and the toe left.
Also, I tried TAAT and pulled my hair out after only 2 rows. I’ll work the legs of each, the heels, etc. so I’ll still end up finishing both at roughly the same time.
By the time I’m done with these socks, I may wish I had tried to ride a dragon instead. My little sample swatch seemed to take fore evah and was so teensy! The only way I’ll get the socks done is to publicly declare that I’m knitting them. I find the twists awkward Continental, so I’ll have to work English and take a lot of breaks.

12 Socks in 2014 Challenge: Special socks for me! I had been drooling over this pattern for a long time, and finally used an Amazon credit to buy the book. Frogged a lonely sock to reclaim this yarn, as I thought it was the best match for the pattern. Lonely sock will get reknit next month!
