Notes:
After 46 rows start armhole.
- cast on 6 at underarm instead of 2 so 198 st. for body. Corresponds with another garment knit with the same yarn and needle size.
Twisted rib for split hem
3.8 skeins for tank.
Sleeves: - I added sleeves, and when Joji published the photo on Facebook, she gave a recipe for sleeves.
Joji’s Sleeve Instructions:
Another question I get a lot is ‘can I add sleeves’? So first, I want to clarify that the pattern does not include sleeve instructions, and I cannot customize it for you. But if you want to know a quick secret formula for top-down set in sleeves, read below:
1- measure top arm and add 2”, multiply that number by stitch gauge per inch —-> sleeve stitches.
2- pick up half of those sts along the front armhole, half along the back armhole. Join in the round.
3- knit 66% of your sts, w&t. P33% of your sts, w&t.
4- knit to wrap, pick it up, w&t. P to wrap, pick it up, w&t.
Repeat point 4 until 5 sts remain at each side. Work a full round.
5- Voilá! Seamless set-in sleeve.
My Sleeves:
Added cap sleeves for a little more armhole coverage. Picked up 80 around armhole. K 1 round then knit 13 past center then turn for German short rows. Purl to 13 past center and turn. Every 2 stitches after that until 5 remaining. This makes a “flutter” sleeve. For more of a cap, just move the turn to the next stitch after knitting or purling the wrapped stitch instead of the 2nd stitch. 80 stitches is a lot, but my armhole was deep. I decreased rapidly at the sleeve bottom once I finished the wrap and turns.
Round 1 decrease 2 at 1 st away from center. Round 2 decrease 4 st at stitch 3 and 7 st away from center. Round 4 decrease 4 at the same place to end up with 70 stitches. Round 5 knit. Switch to smaller needles and 3 rows of 1x1 twisted rib then bind off. A loose bind-off preserves the size of the sleeve. A regular bind-off brings the sleeve in a bit.
33 grams left of 4th skein, so about .6 skein or 80 yards for the sleeves.
After blocking, 19 st to 4 inches. I wouldn’t want this any looser, as it is slightly see-through. Not enough to have to wear a tank underneath. Looks more exposed in the pictures than IRL. No way this yarn is aran!
