Started this “idea” out of need to distract myself from family drama. Started charting the motif and then played with colours in the charts.
I needed a fast knit for instagratification, and Wool Barrow Aran yarn arrived about the same time
I planned a 4 repeat for a chunky cowl, but it soon changed (with encouragement from ladies in the Cast on Cafe) into a boxy oversized sweater.
The idea for textured single colour top came as I finished the colourwork and based on the height of the motif, I would get a good balance of colourwork to textured top. Needed texture to also balance the weight of the three strands colourwork and single strand of grey. Enter cables and broken twisted ribbing.
Then the next idea was for saddle shoulder using the cable from the front. Knit from shoulder down to wrist.
The shawl collar was the better alternative than a turtle neck as I don’t like anything tight round the throat anymore.
Since the back has no cable I threw in a band of colourwork, you know, coz I could on the fly!
I am thrilled with the result. And recently was able to test it outside in Minus 26c and it’s not recommended!!!!
It is however wonderful and warm under a coat at those temps!
Going to makes notes now of what I did!
