I tried for months to find a satisfactory slipper pattern for a toddler (foot length 6.5”) and couldn’t find one to my liking. So, using some old patterns and techniques I learned from The Lovely Crow’s (Elizabeth Allen) patterns and website, I improvised these. Faith LOVES purple, so the color was not a hard decision! The soles are doubled for comfort and wear, and the body of the slippers are made with a double strand of white/purple worsted weight yarn. I used slip stitches, again using a double strand, of white and purple yarn for the details. Added some purple wooden buttons to finish.
One problem with crocheted or knitted slippers is that they slide on hardwood or tile flooring. I used this product link text to spray a nonslip coating on the bottom of the slippers. It seems to have worked very well!
I’ll be improvising another pair of toddler slippers for Faith’s younger sister, Noelle, for her birthday in February. My next project!
