German twisted cast on (slingshot cast on).

Slip as if to knit for first stitch of every row except rows where you change colors.

Size U.S. 8 / 5.0 mm needles.

I wanted something easy and mindless to knit while traveling for business. I figured a garter stitch baby blanket would work out nicely. I started casting on and then began looking for any patterns for a garter stitch blanket. I liked Purl Bee’s suggestion of slipping the first stitch of every row knit wise.

I also had a lot of acrylic yarn in the stash and so I pulled the Red Heart Super Soft turquoise color (a gift from a redditgifts exchange) and it paired nicely with the single skein of RHSS in the toasted (toasty?) color way.

Other than that, it’s a standard garter stitch blankie with color changes when you run out of yarn.

I think 150 stitches was too much for the cast-on. I think 130 or 135 would have made a less wide blanket. I’m going to present the blankie with the stripes vertically rather than horizontally. I’m pondering if I should do another stripe after the wine-colored one.
