The concept behind this hat is that it’s inspired by Halloween colours- black, orange, purple, lime green- and is meant to be reminiscent of a B grade movie brainsucking alien wrapped around the wearer’s head.

The hat has an internal structure which keeps all the “bulges” in place and a little hat elastic worked into the lower edge to help keep it secure because this is a rather substantial piece.

Because I’ve used synthetic yarns, it’s not as heavy as one might expect though and is quite wearable.

I had a total ball playing with these colours and chuckling to myself as I crocheted. Purple next to orange next to green and all set off by black? MMMMMM!
