You’ve heard of the cat’s pyjamas? Well these are the dog’s. The photo shows Thad in his custom-made, 100% natural fibre, ideologically sound and very warm jammies, snuggled up on the lounge and wishing I’d stop annoying him.
I made Thad’s pyjamas in an afternoon out of recycled pure mohair thrums from New Zealand, using (Australian terminology) double crochet stitches so the fabric is nice and dense and warm. There was no pattern involved as always with my work, I just sat down one afternoon with Thad, who is always happy to sit at my feet while I crochet and just periodically tried the pyjamas on him as I went to get the fit.
They actually fit really nicely, allowing Thad to run and jump without them moving around or restricting his movement and this year was his second winter in them, so they’ve worn super-well.
The pyjamas have a high turtle neck which can be folded back and a hole at the base of the neck to put a lead through when we go out.
Er, unfortunately I left these at my lovely mother’s place one day and she thought that the hole was a problem and crocheted a sparkly blue flower over the hole. Thad, being quite the boyish boy, was a little embarrassed about wearing a sparkly blue flower so I had to unpick it.
