What a fantastic pattern. They are sorta like potato chips. You want to keep going, especially when its a nice squishy yarn. And. You just can’t make one. They make great (and fast) gifts. I think this is the first one I’ve actually added to my Ravelry projects page cuz generally I make one and give it away before there’s a chance to even take pictures. Easy to adjust for size.

I forgot how easy and FAST this hat is to make. It’s been a couple years since I last made one.

Stayed with the 3dc shell stitches (13 rows) and not onto the 4dc as this will be for one of my young granddaughters. I thought it might be too wide otherwise. (If it was for me or another adult, I’d definitely go onto the 4dc as per pattern.)
For band, that first row of sc I crochet into the back loop and back ‘bump’ only to make a nice transition edge there. That’s how I like it anyway. :) Right now I just went with the first two rows of fpdc/bpdc as the hat looks long enough. Not cutting yarn until one of the girls tries it on for size. Never know, I might need that extra length…?

Ended up doing one more row of the fpdc, bpdc. I needed the rest of the yarn. So now the plan is to frog it back if needed.

It fits River with no row frogging needed.
