Notified of the test knit selection today and it’s due in 23 days, so no time to order yarn. Using stash yarn.
Holding 2 strands of Brushed Alpaca Silk together in both light blue (#14) and winter white (#1). I have 10 balls of each and will need probably 7 if I hold 2 strands together, so not enough for a single color. I think I will like the two marled together and this may be very fortunate because I wasn’t happy with the color of the blue… supposed to be gray/green, so I wasn’t excited about working with it. But I fell in love with this cardigan when I saw the video and imagined it would look nice in this yarn I intended for a second honey cardigan, and I prefer a v neck cardigan, so I’m happy to test knit this and use this stash yarn.
My swatch is currently drying.

Finished the increases and 2” left on back section. Pattern is very easy to follow so far
September 4, 2023
Finished right front and have 3 more repeats for left front. Will complete that tomorrow and begin the body.
September 7, 2023
Finished 9” body, beginning ribbing

Finished and really like Ruke bind off for waist.
NOTE: I like the Ruke cast off, like the Italian bind off. But the wrong side looks much more smooth than the right side (rolled bump on the side worked). In hindsight, I would knit one more row and end on a RS row THEN use the Ruke cast off.

Finished sleeve 1, bound off with ruke bindoff on the wrong side. So much better looking than hem. Started sleeve 2.

Beginning button band

Knit to pattern specs and got gauge. The finished object is a bit small so I’m hoping it blocks out quite a bit, though my gauge swatch didn’t grow much.
September 16, 2023
Grew a full 2 -3” in all directions, PERFECT!
Before blocking 18” sleeves, 19” length/ width
Wet blocked- 20” sleeves, 22” length/ width
Drying in the sun - the alpaca stinks to high Heaven when wet lol

Not sure how or why Ravelry is calculating the amount yarn used to be different for each color it’s the exact same yarn. I weighed the cardigan and divided by 2, input the grams in Rav, and it calculated two different amounts. Weird. But the weight is correct.
