Notes

Holding 2 strands of cobweb weight cashmere and one mohair together. Very soft light and airy, yet warm. Generally prefer top down and seamless, but i really need this in my life and decided to embrace it. Exactly what I want as a staple piece in my wardrobe. So excited to complete this one!!

Finished the back and realized I was knitting much tighter than my gauge swatch so tore it out and cast on again in the second size, I think small vs. x-small. I’ve dropped several stitches that just didn’t look right when I pulled them up, so I’ve ripped out and re-knit several rows multiple times. I feel like I’ve knitted this more than once by now lol.

Finished the back and two front pieces and decided to avoid second sleeve syndrome by knitting 2 at a time. About 1/4 finished with the sleeves. Finishing will include blocking, seaming, then picking up and knitting the collar and front button placket, which I intend to modify the pattern by knitting double layered.

Half Fisherman’s rib is sloooow going and it’s super hard to see stitches in the black mohair at night, when I typically knit. I just had to tear out about 7 rows of one sleeve and caught back up to the place I left off. Took 2 nights of knitting and the 2 steps forward, one step back feel of this project has me a little less than enthusiastic to finish.

About 10 cm left for the sleeves and need a break, so cast on Ranunculus

2/8/2023 - finished the sleeves, made them 4” longer than the pattern called for. I’d rather have them long…

Made the front edge pieces twice as long and doubled them over to mirror the collar. Currently finishing sewing down those edges and only have left to knit the collar & sew it down.

I haven’t attached the sleeves or seamed up the sides because i’m wondering if it will be wide enough and am considering adding a 1” panel to each side under the arms if needed.

This is the most labor-intensive project ever lol, between winding the cashmere, re-knitting the back, tinking it back so many times, adding extra inches, seaming, and the remaining crocheting and sewing on of the buttons. I better love it lol

I did knit two 1” wide side panels and I’m so glad it did. I love the fit. It made sewing the pieces together less than perfect, as it was challenging sewing the sleeves into a round armhole rather than sewing it straight from cuff to hem. No one will ever know.

Finished sewing the piece together. Can’t find my button jar so will head to my lys tomorrow to look at buttons

March 7, 2023

I was so weary from knitting this last month that I just couldn’t get excited to make the buttons. Settled on some vintagey pearl buttons so I could wear the sweater and get excited about it again. Just finished making the buttons last night and I love the look of the crocheted buttons. So glad I did it. As I hoped, this will definitely be a staple piece in my wardrobe.

If I make this again, don’t knit sleeves separately and sew in. Seamless set in instead

Frogged. The seams were so wonky. I’ll make a seamless top down version.
