Notes

This was enjoyable to knit and I think it looks great lying flat. But I realized (between this and the Magnolia Bloom) that I don’t love a circular yoke on myself and don’t reach for this. I also don’t like ribbed finishes on summer garments. I am going to frog this one.

Mods:
Make body and sleeves in reverse stockinette to cohesively blend with lace.

Not tearing this out, but I don’t like the uneven placement of eyelet rows/ reverse stockinette rows. when i make long sleeve winter version, move the reverse stockinette rows in the lace section to more aesthetically pleasing place. Either all “2 eyelet row” sections evenly spaced, or sequentially increase (2 eyelet rows, reverse st, 3 eyelet rows, reverse st, 4 eyelet rows, reverse st, etc.)

Did a gauge swatch on US sizes 6, 7, & 8. I like the fabric best in a size 6. Looks like I’ll knit either the small for 0” ease or the medium to get 4” ease. With a non stretch yarn, probably best to do the medium…

Did (reverse?) German twisted cast on (see nimble needles for the “reverse” compatible with ribbing) on size 6

Knit 1.25” neckband, 1x1 rib on size 6

Error in the pattern. Chart A says to make a 6 stitch cable, when the pattern segment only has 4 stitches. Other than having to tear that back, I’m enjoying knitting this yoke

July 26, 2023

I have 7 rows (total 1”) left in the lace yoke part and thank God for barber cords to try on easily. Love the way it looks in this yarn. I think I’ll have to add another repeat to get long enough for sleeve separation, since I’m using lighter weight yarn and smaller needles.

Finished the chart and yoke depth is 15cm. Using the measurements called for in the Drops Green Tee pattern, I need 17cm before dividing for sleeves, so with no more increases I will repeat rows 43-46 of the cable section 2x, and rows 40-46 of the lace section 1x before splitting and starting the knit in reverse st.

Completed yoke, dividing for sleeves. Just remembered I wanted to add short rows to the back.
Tutorial for adding above hem

Using Gridlove’s short row shaping

July 30

Added 12 short rows according to the corresponding stitch number in Gridlove, but they extended too far into the sleeves and made the sleeves too long so I ripped them out and will try again dividing sleeves and body first and having the short rows just on the back.

August 2, 2023

Used a short row stitch to flip the sweater inside out and knit in stockinette. Knit 2 rows before re-doing 12 short rows between sleeves on back, then casting on underarm stitches.

Currently have 4.5” of body completed. Considering hem options. Not sure if I want ribbing. Maybe knit an extra inch and stitch it up.

August 6, 2023

Knitted 9” body and 2” 1x1 rib.
Started sleeves, still inside out so reverse stockinette is inside.
K2tg 2x on R side of underarm pickup, ssk 2x on L to avoid holes
78 st total
Knit 1” sleeve, 1” 1x1 ribbing
