2024-08-16 Swatching

1x1 Ribbing on US5 / 3.75mm

St st on
US7 : 18 sts x 10 rows
Off needles = 9.5 cm x 3.5 cm
After blocking = 10 cm x 3.5 cm
Gauge: 18 sts x 28.5 rows

US8 : 18 sts x 17 rows
Off needles = 10 cm x 6 cm
After blocking = 11 cm x 6 cm
Gauge: 16.5 sts x 28 rows

Must also swatch in stranded colour work perhaps in my usual smaller needle (I tend to be even looser when holding yarn with left hand)

2024-08-24 Week 1

Finalized my colours!
C1 = 29 Mauve
C2 = 22 Yellow
C3 = 50 Peach Pink
C4 = 33 Pink Sand

Swatching in stranded colourwork
US7 : 16 sts x 32 rows
After blocking = 9 x 15 cm
Gauge : 18 sts x 21 rows

2024-08-28 Week 2

Cast on day!

Following size #2 for neck and yoke. Fingers-crossed that I can somehow transition to size #3 for body and sleeves. With my larger 18 sts gauge, should end up with size #3 neck/yoke and #4 body/sleeves.

Japanese long-tail tubular CO 88 sts on US5 circular needles for Magic Loop.

Ha! My first mistake already. Careless reading the pattern and did 1x1 ribbing instead of 2x2!! Oops. sweat_smile

Had been using my default Chiaogoo metal needles but find it too slippery with this yarn. Switched to Knitter’s Pride Dreamz wooden needles. Ha! Gauge may be different.

2024-09-04 Week 3

Forgot to sign up for Joji’s fall MAL — too late now

As I’m following size #2 neck and yoke and then size #3 body, I have to figure out how to transition and which chart.

Target is 56 sts for sleeves and 88 sts x2 = 176 sts for the body and yoke depth of 7.75” - 8.5” (back).

I will do straight inc (every 2 rows) of Chart 1 and R3-R38
That gets me 56 sts sleeve and 80 sts front/back.
Then at armhole to CO 4 sts x2 = 88 sts x2 = 176 sts body.

Then follow Chart 3 and then Chart 4 for rest of body.

Realizing I change yarn colour at round 40, I’m going to work round 39 (chart 1) with NO increases AND THEN split for body and sleeves. Then when I do sleeves, I won’t have to change yarn colour after just 1 round.

Follow Chart 3A and from row 10.

2024-09-11 Week 4

Split for body and held sleeves

2024-09-18 Week 5

Working on body

2024-09-25 Week 6

Still working on body. Not much progress this week due to right elbow pain from too much crochet and a too-heavy PB paddle.

2024-10-02 Week 7

Aiming to finish the body this week. Right elbow still hurts though.

Finished body. Questions why I used US5 needles for neck ribbing. Seems too lose. Maybe fix that neck later.

So, using US4 for bottom 2x2 ribbing in C1 for about 8cm (23R). Sewn tubular BO in the round.

2024-10-10 Week 8 - Sleeve

Work sleeve on US6 short tips (couldn’t find my US7 short tips) on 16” cords. Figured stretching is ok. Fingers crossed.

CO 4 sts on either side of BOR for total 64 sts sleeve.

Following chart 5C but only middle 8-st repeat and from row 4 onwards.

2024-10-27

Sleeve ends at R72
Switch to US4
Evenly decreased from 64 sts to 40 sts
2x2 ribbing for 23R / 8cm

2024-11-04

Working the same on 2nd sleeve…

2024-12-26

Hibernated with the 2nd sleeve while working other projects. Final push to finish for wearing Xmas eve.

Didn’t make it, but managed to finish on Boxing Day, blocked, and dried overnight with the heater, and wore it for work on the 27th.

Still need more C1 (mauve) to redo the neck ribbing….
… or use the pink?
