Newest design: Fiorellini (little flowers).
I wanted to teach a crochet lace making class using a nice basic shell type repeat and using the fabulous new summer linen the store got in from Shibui. I designed the new shawl from a “yarn sketch” and then the color just called out to be beaded for some reason. The chainette construction of the yarn made it a little less than automatic to work. I had to pay attention to make sure splits or pulling didn’t happen, but the yarn snapped right back whenever it did get distorted, so all was well. Linen required really aggressive blocking with lots of wires and pins to open up the lace. I LOVE the result. I found that it added a fresh new layer to one of my oldest, favorite spring dresses which made me love it even more. As with all things spring, new things are wonderful!
