Ah, worsted weight hats, you make me feel so speedy and productive after all those fingering weight socks and scarves! Ever since I first saw this hat as a featured pattern during the 2016 Rose City Yarn Crawl I knew that I had to make it. Although the yarn created for it was nice, I really wanted to see the cable work pop in white. I bought some lovely undyed handspun yarn from a trunk show during the yarn crawl to use on this hat. I thought it would be awkward to knit this pattern from the written form, but it wasn’t because once you got the hang of the pattern it was easy to see what to do with the cables without having to look up the meanings.

Ahhh!!! I can’t find this hat in my apartment right now. The last place I know I had it was at Zien Hong (Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant) on November 26th, at around 6 pm. I called the restaurant, but they said they haven’t seen it yet.

Update: Haha, I found this hat – it was.. at my apartment all along. Trapped between the wall and the radiator in my bedroom. I guess I was cold that night and I kept my hat on while I fell asleep while reading in bed. I did look in my bedsheets and behind my poster board for it but somehow it fell off near the radiator and I didn’t see it because it’s the same color as the paint on the walls. Oh well, great to have my hat back to wear next winter!
