Started for Knit Purl’s Shibui Linen Knitalong, Spring/Summer 2012

I followed the pattern as written, but if I left out the white stripes in the garter stitch finishing section I would have only needed one hank of the CC.

Some notes about this yarn: First of all, I love it! Between the vibrant colors, the linen, and the chain ply, it is like nothing I’ve ever worked with before. That said, if you decide to make anything with it you should know some things. Use blunt needles when you knit with it because it’s really easy to get stuck in the chain if you’re not paying attention. Especially be careful if you are knitting lace! It makes a lovely FO when knitted up in lace but ssps and k2tog are extra tricky due to the chain ply. Actually, I wouldn’t use this yarn yet if you are new to lace knitting for that reason. I hope I haven’t discouraged anyone from trying out Shibui linen, though!

Placed into hibernation on November 25th. I had active KALs and Christmas gifts that I need to work on and this is summer time shawl so I decided to put this on the back burner for a while.

Taken out of hibernation in June 2013.
