Notes

My first crochet project! I made all these granny squares about 3 years ago, having never crocheted anything before. By the time I was done with all of them, I was so sick of them that I couldn’t bear the idea of sewing them together, so they sat in the craft closet until this spring when I finally tackled putting them together.

I’m so happy now that I used 100% wool yarns throughout, it makes it feel like an heirloom to me. The greys are Pantons classic wool, and the bright colors are mostly Cascade 220, but I don’t remember now which exact shades.

The blanket consists of 120 squares, each one roughly 5 1/2” square.

I joined them using a single crochet row through the back loops, which feels nice and sturdy and was much more fun to do than sewing them. I also added two border rows in the same grey shades that border the squares.

I think everyone should make a granny square afghan at some point in your life! So happy this was my first experience with crochet, I think I will save this blanket forever.
