My grandma was diagnosed with an aggressive, clear-celled cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. She’s going through chemotherapy now. I wanted to make something for her, but she doesn’t seem like a hat person. I’ve made lace shawls for her before, so I guess I’m sticking with a lace theme.

I wanted to make something that was soft and impractically beautiful, but practically washable. I squished every skein of yarn at Jo-ann Fabrics, and decided on this one. On the ball band, it says it’s a bulky yarn, but it’s classified as super bulky on Ravelry. It’s not rope-like, but it’s significantly thicker than a worsted weight.

This blanket is going really fast. I’m about halfway through the feather and fan chart and have a whole lot of stitches right now. I’m visiting my family in Pennsylvania on July 17, so I’m going to try to be mostly done before that.

I was really happy with how this blanket turned out. I probably will pick a different yarn if I decide to knit it again. It was kind of pointless to try to pin-block acrylic, and I ended up using 7 skeins and a few feet of the 8th, so I have almost a whole skein of this yarn left.
