Notes

12/23/2014 --- My friend Abby and I are making each other scarves for fun. I’m using the reversible cable motif from Kate Gilbert’s Cardigan for Arwen to knit a super bulky cowl that doesn’t have a wrong side.

And a year later…

I ripped the Cardigan for Arwen cable motif and I’m using the yarn to make the Monoshone Creek Cowl, which is better suited for the yarn, I think.

It was my first time trying an applied i-cord border, and for the first repeat I was slipping the stitches entirely wrong! Whoops! I slipped all 3 as if to knit, when I should have been slipping them as if to purl. It made the edges really tight on the first repeat, but I’m not going to rip it out. Onward!

I didn’t have much of a plan for this project, so it turned into a very expensive project. I ended up getting two more skeins of ASAP, and knitting until I ran out of yarn. It is still a lovely cowl and perfect for my friend Abby, who lives in Pennsylvania. She’ll probably wear it during the winter.

This story isn’t over. My friend Kevin wants this exact same scarf, same color. I’m not sure I’m up for knitting this pattern again (I usually never knit the same pattern twice) but I’d do it for him.

Abby got her scarf in the mail! She likes it, but it’s still too hot outside right now to wear it.
