The Blizzard Hat and Scarf

I think I need to chain less to start. Maybe 5 less. This is coming out too long for mini AG. The yarn is splitty too. I hope that’s just this yarn. I really want to like this pattern. I’m going to set this one aside and try one with fewer stitches. A black one. I must be a glutton for punishment.

I think I’m going to frog this and start over with a 16 chain beginning. The black one fits perfectly.

I started over with a C hook this time instead of the B. It was so much easier to crochet, hardly any splitting. I like the resulting fabric better too. It’s not as stiff. I did have some trouble with the slip stitches. I used a much smaller hook to grab the yarn when I couldn’t get the C hook through the stitch. Then I finished with the bigger hook. That was a pain, but do-able and worth the effort for the shaping at the top.
