06/14/09: This project won’t be started by casting on but by spinning the yarn. I have very beautiful hand-dyed merino/silk roving from Drachenwolle. I hope I can spin it to lace weight.
06/20/09: After a bit of resistance to start spinning I just dived in and so far I’m quite happy with it. Only it takes a looong time.
07/09/09: Now I’m both elated and disappointed. I did spun all the yarn and plied it into a 2-ply. It is gorgeous. By far the most beautiful I have done. But - it isn’t lace-weight, it’s barely fingering. So there isn’t enough for an Aeolian, I only got about 345 meters. So it’s back to the drawing board, and this yarn will become an Ishbel instead.
07/15/09: Finished the small version and was left with three honking big mistakes (in the stockinette section, of course), and 28 grams of remaining yarn. So I ripped it all back and started over.
07/22/09: This is the only thing I’m knitting at the moment. I just finished my second section B yesterday. Now I’m hoping to have enough yarn for a large lace section with a small stockinette stitch part.. I’m still very happy knitting this.
A very fast knit, and a pleasure. I’m also very happy with how it turned out.
