I started with an 8mm hook, but after several inches I didn’t like how big the holes were near the decreases. The increases also looked a bit asymmetrical for my tastes. So I started over with a few modifications:
- 7mm hook
- Use Tss2tog for decreases instead of skipping a stitch
- Use full stitch instead of yo for all increases
The smaller hook helped, but the decreases still have larger holes than I wanted (though I think the blanket turned out fine!). I figured out that I should also decrease on the return pass to prevent the holes. Good to keep in the mind for future Tunisian projects.
I think this Puzzle Cotton yarn is a good (and affordable) match for the pattern!
- I switched to second skein when 60g remain of first. The first colorway is my least favorite of the bunch, so I wish I had done less.
- 9/5: About 20% into the blanket I had noticeable tension problem on left edge. Too tight. I decided to rip back to when I added the second yarn to try to fix left edge tension
- 10/5: added third ball (Canyon); decided to join it on the right edge, we’ll see how that goes. Left side tension is much better now (but still noticeably tighter than right side)
- 2/2: finished crocheting! I got nervous about adding too much pink, and it is already long enough for a good lap blanket. Just need to weave in ends and block.
- 2/7: got around to “blocking”: washed and dried in machine, then lay flat and steamed edges. Final dimensions about 58”x48”.
