Notes

An experiment in knitting a ribbed brim on a crochet hat. The hat is crochet in hdc with a 6mm hook and the brim stitches were picked up (through the back leg only, to produce a nice ridge on the right side) and knit in k1p1 ribbing with a 5mm 16” circular needle.

After about 1” of ribbing I was afraid the hat would be too big for me, so I switched to a 4.5mm needle for the last 1” of ribbing. It turns out that was unnecessary and when I bound off it was too tight! I frogged the bind off and re-did it using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off… and it fits great!

I used some of the leftover yarn from my Christmas Blanket project along with the last bit of some brown acrylic remnants. Both fairly heavy/fuzzy worsted weight.
