I used Janette Williams’ Caity Cat pattern with the following modifications:
Hook: 4.00 mm
Yarn: Worsted weight for base and side, yarn scraps tied with a square knot for the part that looks all furry.
Face: I just embroidered the face on with worsted weight yarn. I did not use buttons as I wanted something that would not come off.
Other notes about how I did this:
I did not start using the scrap yarn until the start of the fifth round. Were I to make this another time, I would start on the third round.
For the area for the face (13 sc across for rounds 17- 24, I used a solid color and crocheted over the scrap yarn. I did not crocheted over the solid yarn, because I was concerned it would make it too top heavy. That resulted in some ends to be oven in behind the scenes, but given the nature of this project, if I had been thinking, I would have just tied the ends of the solid yarn as I worked my way up. I probably would have left them inside as they would all by the same color and right around the face if I pulled them forward, they would alter the look quite a bit.
