Notes

I love these colors for a baby boy. Although, the color pooling didn’t look very nice as this cardigan turned out having. I knew this was a risk, but I like seamless designs so much I decided to go ahead with it anyway.

MODS:

I made the garter ridges in a contrasting (ivory) color.

I made the lower body and the sleeves longer.

I worked the sleeves in the round, starting with 32 sts and ending with 40.

I cast off 6 sts at the underarms on the body and also on the sleeves. (Patt says 8 sts.)

I worked the neck shaping with german short rows rather than doing the k2togs and p2togs at the neck edges.

I picked up 50 sts along the buttonbands.

I worked my buttonholes every 8 sts.

On the last row of the buttonband, I used the contrast (ivory) color and worked all knit sts across. (I dec’d one st near the top buttonhole in this row too - it reduced flare at the bind off edge). I bound off from the WS in purl sts so that it looks like a column of stockinette when viewed from the front.

The matching booties are the second-smallest size. I had to guess on the elastic amount as they are going to charity and I don’t have an actual baby to measure. I used 5” of 1/4”-wide elastic, overlapped the ends by 1-inch. I think they should be okay, but bext time, overlap only 3/4” and compare.

I tweaked the bootie pattern so that a two stockinette columns lie on the top. It breaks up all that garter!
