Test knit for Kelly G.

I cast on using the Chinese Waitress method. I like it because its stretchy and looks nice on both RS and WS. This makes it perfect for hat ribbing!

I used size US 2 needles for the cast on and for the increase round after the ribbing.
I only used the size US 1 needles to do the fisherman’s rib rounds.
I used the size US 4 needles to do the colorwork (as well as the round before the colorwork).

It took about 75 yards (15.5g) of the white ‘Palette’ to get to the point where I started the colorwork chart.

I am not very experienced with stranded knitting. I discovered that I liked the look much more when I started treating the white color as the dominant one when making the ‘rice’ pattern inside the green columns. The rest of the hat, though, I treated the green as the dominant color. Before now, it had never occurred to me that I could trade dominance back and forth like this within the same round.

Final hat weighs 56.5g.
