Notes

My yarn is obviously wool, but I think there might be mohair in it too because it has that ‘crunchy’ feel to it that I associate with mohair. And it has a mild halo too. Or maybe it has some alpaca?

I don’t know the yardage of this unlabeled skein, but it weighs 103g. The ‘Increasing triangle’ at the beginning of the project should take the same amount (in theory) that the final ‘Decreasing triangle’ will need. Since I want to use up the entire skein, I’ll use this info to decide when to start the ‘Decreasing triangle’ at the end. But I’ll probably have to cope with the anxiety of yarn chicken.

I only worked to 95 sts (not 125) because my scarf is already going to be a bit shorter than the designer’s sample. My ‘triangles’ at the beg and end will take up 24g of the 103g available, leaving 79g for the center section. If my calcs are correct, my unblocked scarf will end up about 11.75” wide and 55.5” long.

On the long, middle section (chart C), I noticed my left edge was tighter than the right edge. So I started working the beg of each WS row as k1, yon (backward yo); the yo inserts a bit of extra length. Then on the foll row, I’d drop the yo.

Final scarf is 9 ‘blocks’ wide and 41 blocks long (blocks to 6 feet).

I had 4g of yarn left and used it to add some mini-tassels along the bottom edges. It took a few hours to make 20 tassels and connect them all but I’m happy with how it turned out.

Project was made for the July/August KAL.
