After I made this sweater, one of the owners of company that made the yarn I used posted content on social media which are not in agreement with my values. I can not recommend them.

AND THEN, Genevieve decided that she wanted Oliver’s sweater from “If you take a Mouse to the Movies”. (It’s also featured in the “If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie” movie.)
I’m is using the child’s drop shoulder sweater recipe for the 5 sts/inch gauge for the 26” circumference (which is about 23”, adjusted for my gauge) from Ann Budd’s Handy Book of Sweaters.
I’m taking the measurements for the finished sweater from Sweater 101 by Cheryl Brunette, which I’m really liking so far.
… NOW FOR THE LOOSE DIRECTIONS:
- CO 128 sts. (Chart is 24 sts wide, so multiples of 24. Obviously, mine was not), join without twisting.
- Work in corrugated ribbing (K2 in Oatmeal, P2 in green) for 1 1/2”
- Work in oatmeal (MC) for 1”.
- Work chart. The chart is here.
- After the chart, work to 8.5” in St st from CO edge in MC.
- Separate for armholes.
- when armhole reaches 1/2”, work five rows in red yarn, then five rows in green yarn. Work the rest of the\front and main color.
- work back according to directions
- work front neck and front according to directions
SLEEVES:
- works sleeve directions in reverse, starting decreases immediately.
- pick up 80 sts. Start with five rows of green, then five rows of red, then switch to main color.
- start decreases after green stripe:
- dec 1 st at each side every 4 rows 16x
- dec 1 st at each side every 2 rows 2 x
- final stitch count: 44
- work until sleeve measures 8.5”
- work in 2x2 corrugated ribbing for 1 1/2”
