It’s difficult to accurately measure if you follow the instructions and measure from CO edge …the ruffles just won’t allow for accuracy. Rather, measure from the beginning of the MC and you will match up easier. Don’t forget to adjust the instructions as you make these changes.

In order to have the cuff stripe match the length of the other stripes, see my modification to sleeve instructions:
CO Yarn A in sz 3 needle
Switch to Yarn C
Row 1: Knit
Row 2-10: Moss Stitch, regardless of size
Switch to sz 6 needles and Yarn B
Row 11-18: st st….etc etc

Now the cuff is the same as the stripes. Notice I dropped the Purled row at the end? Doing this butts the Moss Stitch right up to the Stockingnet so you don’t have the weird two rows of white st st there.

Also…there is an error on the increases for the 6-7 size: increase 3x every 6 rows instead of 0, until you have 56. Then proceed with the instructions but only repeat 6x at every 8th row in order to get to the final 68 desired stitches. I increased the amount of final stitches to keep in line with average 6-7yo arm size and length. Additionally, the sleeves should only go to 13 inches from CO ending with a pink row.

Regarding the neck shaping….making M1 on top of each other created holes that I didn’t like so for the knit rows, I did k1fb and in purl rows, I did M1. No more holes and I am happy with the results

Finally picked this back up and played with the placement of the various flamingo pieces. 4 inches in from each side….I think I fiddled it into a good shape, making sure the st st columns weren’t too off….can’t help the neck, it will be slanted a little in the curve.

The edges of the head naturally curve under. I tucked in all my ends under the head. Don’t forget to make sure you are catching the sweater underneath, lol - yeah….a little re-sewing there….

Hoo - sewing up the seams with the ruffles….that took a little doing.
The picture on the pattern does not show you the seam at the flamingo’s neck and the ruffle - when it lies flat, you don’t see it….but when you wear it, the weight of the ruffles exposes it…I thought about adding a little ribbon to cover the seam but after all said and done, it wasn’t that bad as is.

Finally finishing…I kept putting it off but just need to buckle down and get this shipped to Georgia in order to catch the 1-2 cold days they might have this winter, lol.

The instructions have you purl the color change row….I am not fond of this look and wonder why since this was not done on the cuffs….in hindsight, I should have stopped, tinked it back and knitted instead before casting off. Oh well

My cast off was the the Elastic Bind-off which is: K2, insert left needle into the front of the two stitches and knit together, then K1 and repeat.

Reached out to Jane Burns Designs to try and figure out what is going on with this pattern which is not on Deramores anymore….but also not on her page nor website. I’ll update after I get more information.

UPDATE: Jane is no longer selling her patterns via Deramores and as such, Deramores has pulled the Flamingo Frills pattern.
