I saw that some Ravelry friends were making a striped version of the Misty Haze Cowl using two colors of Shawl in a Ball…and was inspired by it. But it isn’t the Misty Haze pattern at all. This is what I am doing:

CO 54 or so
Moss Stitch for 4 rows (if making scarf), switch color
Moss Stitch for first and last 4 stitches to create a flat border
St st in between
Switch colors every 4 rows

If making a scarf, end last stripe with same yarn as you started so that first and last stripes are either both colored or neutral. Also use Moss Stitch for that last stripe then BO.

If making a cowl, end with the opposite of what you started with because you will be joining the ends.

This way it lies flat. Each stripe is about 1 inch. You just go until you are happy with the length.
