I always love the way single crochet stitches look. Bernat Baby Blanket yarn is so big and soft. So… I thought I’d try a striped blanket alternating Little Roses and the coordinating Taupe yarn.

** In hindsight, if I had done 12 rows of the Little Roses and 11 rows of Taupe I would have the same stripe effect I was looking for and not have to break into my second skein of Little Roses. There’s plenty of the Taupe yarn to do the stripes and edging. So if you have a coupon for 50% off like I did you could create this blanket for $10!

Main blanket:
Using Little Roses Chain 57
Row 1 sc in 2nd ch from end. sc in each ch to the end (56 stitches). Turn.
Row 2 ch 1 sc in 2nd stitch and sc in each stitch to the end, turn.
Row 3-15 Repeat Row 2
Row 16 using Taupe Ch 1, SC in 2nd stitch from end andSC in each stitch to the end, turn.
Row 17-29 Repeat Row 16 (14 Taupe rows).
Row 30-44 Repeat Row 2 (15 Little Roses rows).
Row 45-58 Repeat Row 16 (14 Taupe rows).
Row 59-73 Repeat Row 2 (15 Little Roses rows).
Crochet in ends after each color change.

Edging:
I used jka1217’s edging from her Baby Bobble Blanket.

Start Taupe color in corner.
Round 1: sc in every stitch, sl at in first sc at end
Round 2: ch 3, 2 dc in the same stitch, skip ch 1, sl st next 2 stitches, skip ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1, repeat from all around, making sure to make the “shell” in each corner. Sl st to ch 3 and fasten.”
