Had to go to 3s to even get close to gauge. Swatch came out at 5.5 s x 8 r /inch (pattern calls for 5.38 s x 7.75 r /inch). Casting on 106 stitches to make up for the slightly smaller gauge.

Hem: 12 rows at pattern gauge = 1.5 inches

Used the longtailed provisional cast on since I have approximately 4,986 size 3 dpns and didn’t feel like buying circs for this project.

So one thing the pattern doesn’t make clear is that it took some sewing skills to make the ribbon and folds work. I finger-pleated the hat and then tailor-tacked the ribbon to the pleats on the inside to hold it all together.
