We visited Belfast Mini-Mills on PEI this summer, and Lucas picked out this yarn and asked me to make a scarf with it. It is a significant request to replace his ubiquitous rainbow scarf.

Odd row = tail on the left. Odd row is WS; tail on right is even/right side.

Was not sure if this variegated yarn would work with the cable pattern but it’s coming together quite nicely. The cable is wide and not detailed, and the colour shifts in the yarn are quick and very tonally similar, so they play together quite nicely.
I hate counting rows though. Ugh. Had to resort to stitch markers to keep track. One marker every 20-row repeat, just to make the counting easier.

Breadcrumbs: cable row should always start with tail on left (assuming long tail cast on). Row 7 starts with the cable twist. Row 17 ends with the cable twist - make sure you are evaluating with tail on the left!

Back to this one after pausing it to make a touque for myself (because winter and I lost all my other ones). Have I mentioned how much I adore this yarn? It is seriously one of the nicest yarns I’ve ever worked - soft and squishy and colourful and just a delightful tactile experience. (Also a relief to be back to worsted weight yarn after eensy beensy sock yarn!)

Thought I could get away with using only two of my three skeins so I could use the third one for a project for myself, but Lucas wants the scarf a little longer, so starting the third hank today. Love this project AND this yarn.

Finished! My gods but I love this yarn and really enjoyed this pattern. Learned to tink a cable backwards! (It’s a great and easy to follow pattern as long as you don’t lose track of your rows.)
One of my favourite things I’ve ever made
