Working out an idea for a baby sweater knit up in either fingering or sportweight in a spring green for future Baby Datenshi

This is going to be a healing design project for me…a way to send positive vibes through my system to help baby come true.

12/13/12--I think this might only end up being a very neat looking hat in multipule sizes knit up in Cephalopod yarns. I’m not sure if I want to use the yarn size to scale the knit, or make it multi size in a chunky yarn.

2/16/13--I think I got the perfect yarn for this, a lovely sportweight from Grant Creek Yarns in a colorway called “waterfall”. I can’t wait to see the yarn in person and begin swatching.

3/19/13--Rather than fully chart and write out my pattern in advance, I’m writing this as I go along, making decisions on the fly, and writing them down. So far, so good :)

3/22/13--decided to go ahead and chart this bubby. I was getting too confused without a chart. I’m not sure if I’m going to size the final pattern or not.

4/16/13--After a bit of a hiatus, I am returning to this pattern today after frogging it again back to the leaves. I am throwing out the previous chart and starting anew without a chart, just written instructions. I’ll probably also chart it, as I’m a very visual person.

Really liking the new direction. It’ll have a nice flow and the method used for increases will make resizing easier too.

4/18/13--I hauled some serious tuckus and I think I’ll have not only this knit done by the end of the month, but also the pattern :) I love the way this is turning out :)

4/20/13--Getting to the brim/cuff. deciding if it needs earflaps….I think it does….

4//23/13--Minor setback. Finished hat, but I need to frog it back quite a bit. Need to add in some extra stitches earlier on, not do as many increases, and add more ribbing. In this size, I made it big enough for my 3 year old. So obviously too big for little sprout.

4/27/13--Finished hat for a second time, now in a smaller size. Still debating the earflaps. Currently only uses 40% of the skein, so for the KAL purposes, I need to use another 90yards. A set of earflaps may add in about half of that. Then I could make some matching booties or gloves. Not sure…

4/29/13--added some optional earflaps. I am still about 50yards short of what I need for the KAL, even with the long dangly ties :(

Guess I better whip up some socks too! Probably won’t be matching socks…

Hat used 56 grams

5/1/13--Well I didn’t finish these QUITE in time for the KAL, but I did make a good go of it. Now it is time for some sleep.

I may have to re knit the little bootie feet anyways, I’m not 100% satisfied with my knitting competency. I tried to knit them too fast :( .Short row seed stitch heels need work and concentration.

Booties used 36 grams
