Notes

6Jan2012, pm: All done! I had so much fun cutting and then decorating the scales with gold and silver paint pens. It was like I was in arts and crafts class at school. I should have calculated my scale sizes a bit better, so that they tiled nicely, but it didn’t quite work out. I also got much better at sewing them by the last row, so the back scales are a bit wonky.

Squares: 2.1cm x 2.1 cm, cut to a curve. 37 scales total

Body yardage: 31 yards (15g of yarn)

Changes: I started by picking up stitches for the legs and then doing i-cord up, but it was too hard to place them correctly. So, the back legs are knit i-cord sewed on. Also, they are a tad shorter than the front legs, which were long enough that they started to bend funny.

6Jan2012, am: This is a test knit for Alyoops. I am trying to decide if it is a hedgehog or an armadillo. I’m thinking its a hedgeadillo. It will have black “felt” scales with gold and silver paint on the edges. The “felt” is actually not felt, but some jewelry case I have -- perhaps felted plastic? We shall see when I start cutting it up. Bottom pic is borrowed from the designer!
