It took 1.5 days, started for Ravellenics 2014. I split the ball in 2 and just knit until I could get enough repeats and cast-off.
MODS: Cast-on 56 sts (instead of 62). Knit in the round, so did not increase one stitch after ribbing. 6 rows ribbing to start (2.5cm instead of 4cm), 8 eyelet rows total, 4 rows ribbing to end and cast-off in rib. Length 6 inches x 5.75 inches at widest point.
I had never knit with Lima and simply adore the fabric it creates, soft, bumpy and squishy. Knitting with it is not the easiest thing, you can easily catch fibers from the chainette and pull them out. Frogging is the real difficulty, it’s really hard to not split the chainette. But the fabric is so wonderful I hope to knit something larger in the future.
I get so many sample skeins from Rowan and I never know what to do with the shorter ones. This free boot topper pattern is a good way to try out Rowan Lima (I never have!), and legwarmers are very useful in Montreal.
The pattern is for 2 balls, but I’m going to see how far I can get with one ball. I’m planning to cast on less stitches for a tighter circumference, so I should get more out of it.
Another option is to finish up the part that wont be seen under the boot in another stash yarn for length. We’ll see.
