Looking at the bird in the original pattern, my bird came out much more oval. It is also larger than the 6-inches diameter stated in the original pattern.
I used a size G-hook and will probably use a size F if I do another one of her patterns. I did not try to do the gauge and admit that.

I used felt for the eyes, beak and bottom, rather than crocheting those pieces of the body.
My oldest son loved it and it will make a great centerpiece for his birthday party.
I gave the pattern a four-star rating because I did not like the bottom (or beginning part) of the pattern. It came out pointy, rather than a circle with the magic ring and few single crochet.
Other than the pointy bottom, which was hidden anyway by the gray portion of the body, the pattern was well written and understandable.
