Apparently, I was the first one to make this pattern, there have been corrections to it, at the Lion Brands site, subsequently. The original instructions left off, or wasn’t clear, that there are joining points between the picots. That’s why the holes in mine are so big and the overall project a failure. I am not looking forward to fixing it and adding a zillion new joins.

50% Mark is vanishing 1200 yards of this yarn. That is 5.5 balls. With 5 fresh balls plus the partial, left over from the swatch, I have a little more than that. Each full ball is 3.5 ounces, the partial is 2.375. That’s 1249 yards. So, if that photo’s worth of yarn is mostly vanished, I can say I’ve hit 50%.

@2-9-15 have hit the halfway point of the OWL and have used up 1210 yards of the yarn. Poncho is assembled, now needs the edging around the outside and neckline.

When all is said and done, I really don’t like this poncho. The holes between the motifs are too big. If I get inspired, I may develop a way to fill them with something.

It was a pain to make, having to sew all the pieces together, when I generally prefer to crochet pieces together, so that’s a lesson to me. It’s not a horrible pattern at all, I just don’t like the result. Someone else’s tastes may be different and they will love it.
