Notes

I LOVE how these mittens turned out! (Especially being my first colorwork project!) They are so comfortable and were very fun to knit. I can see how colorwork is addictive because the pattern grows with each additional row!

I gave them to my sister for her 19th birthday! =)

Other notes
-On the 2nd mitten I carried the Black through the all white sections but I dislike how you can see little blips of the black coming through.

-On the 2nd mitten I forgot to do the top 2 rows of Chart A (In my defense I was in a rush to meet a deadline!). I noticed my error after blocking but quickly did the 2 rows in duplicate stitch to mask my mistake.

-The 2nd mitten is larger than my 1st - most likely due to the fact that I was more accustomed to the stranded technique.

-Felted the mittens down to my sister’s size. Her hands are narrower and shorter than my own.

Day-to-Day progress notes
9/20/2010 - Just got the book this afternoon and spent quite a while picking out a pattern for Sarah that wasn’t too girly but was still classy. I’m hoping that this one fits the bill! She said to surprise her with the pattern but that a black & white combo would be nice. =) Good thing I threw in some extra black and white balls of yarn with my order!

9/20/2010 - This is going SO quickly, I’m astonished! But thank goodness, I was worried this would be a long pattern to complete! I’m half way through the 1st “flower” (for lack of a better term) and just took the thumb stitches off onto a thread to pick up later.

9/21/2010 - After following the right row on needle 1 and the wrong needle on needle 2… (plus a few curse words in there) I decided it was time to copy the chart and scribble it up. I highlighted vertically the first stitch on each needle. As I go through the pattern I’m highlighting the horizontal rows that I have completed. I’m feeling MUCH better about being able to read my knitting and the chart.

9/21/2010 - Finished 1st repeat of the pattern.

9/22/2010 - Finished hand

9/23/2010 (1am) - Finished thumb and the first mitten!! :)

10/16/2010 - Finished the 2nd mitten - only 1 hour shy of the birthday party where I need to give them to my sister!!!
