12shawls2018 #5
My 4th shawl and final for now in the series of shawls for friends. Follow the tag “shawlsforfriends” above to see the rest. ;-)
This year I would like to design and knit several shawls for some friends who have been kind to me over the years, but especially this past year.
My thoughts going into this series of designs for friends are:
- to use the color I know they love and wear;
- design a shawl to complement their lifestyle and personality;
- make future blocking easier for them by keeping the borders easy to block, since most of them are not knitters;

I love how this shawl is coming out. Lace and cables is a great combo. I need to make one for myself as well :-)

I designed this shawl for my friend Elena. She is a wonderful friend I have known for about 20 years. She is very sincere, kind and, unlike most people, she does not afraid to give you a complement, say a kind word and just make you feel better. I feel that she has an inner radar that make her sense when people need a kind word the most.
When thinking about the design I would love to make for her, two things came to mind: red and fringe. :-) I love love how Fire Spirit shawl turned out. Love the cable/lace/fringe combination. It is a fun shawl, as you can see from my pics ;-), and I hope Elena will love it and will enjoy wearing it.
This was the first time for me to design a shawl with the fringe. I choose my favorite edging that I use a lot for the stole edges for this shawl because it makes it super easy to attach fringe and also to attach it very evenly.
I need to make this shawl for myself now. :-)
The pattern is coming soon :-)
