Notes

June Gloom ( as well as May Gray) is a weather pattern here in San Diego. Basically, the sun does not come out until late afternoon and it is gray and on the cooler side for the most part. Perfect weather for a little something like this kimono vest :-)

I am so happy to use up, once again this year, the yarn from my stash. I am staying strong and knitting from my stash only. I have not purchased any yarn since November 2015!!!

I am very happy how this turned out. The yarn grew a little more in the kimono compared to the sample swatch, but I am happy with the slightly longer vest too.
This summer kimono vest was meant to be very open in the front, but if I will find the time to make a winter version that I now want ;-), I will make the fronts a little less open.
The yarn is very pleasant to the touch, velvety and silky. It is a little splitty, but that did not bother me while knitting with bamboo needles.
The diamond pattern is my own creation, but I am sure there are stitch patterns like this around. I love how the k2tog/ssk lines pop on the purl stitch background.
A little on the construction: top-down, seamless (except for the attaching the neck band and tiny seaming where the sleeves were BO), short row shaping of the shoulders, 2st I-cord for the edge of the fronts, I-cord BO for the sleeves and bottom band.

After some consideration, I have decided to write up this pattern, but just in one size.
The other two samples can be found here:
