I finished my first clue (1B) on Silken Arrow on Wednesday, needed something else to knit for the rest of the week, so cast on!

I’m glad I chose to use this yarn for a shawl; whenever I’ve had to rip out and make a correction, I can see that it fuzzes up a bit - it will be fine for this use, but wouldn’t have lasted long as socks. I’m afraid of not having enough of color 1 (the light purply-blue), so added the dark row in clue 2, and will bring in some of the darker yarn again toward the end. The dark purply-gray yarn is Malabrigo sock, left over from my Laeticia socks, which were beautiful and soft but also had a regrettable lack of durability.

This one uses clues 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5B. Sad to say, I just really don’t like it. I enjoyed the KAL, it was fun deciding on clues, and I love the other shawl I ended up with. With this one, I don’t like the final shape or how the colors go together. The yarn showed wear anytime I had to rip back and fix a mistake, and it bled blue when I washed it. I don’t think this shape will be very wearable, and it was very hard figuring out how to block it.

Mar 2017 comment: it might not have been as much fun to knit, but I was totally wrong otherwise - I wear it all the time, and get lots of compliments on this one!
