1st shawl of the year!!!

A friend of mine admired the version of this shawl I made for myself (Purple Rain) and requested one in black and pink!! She wants it with the extra lace panel added, the same as mine.

Really hoping this will turn out right for her, I always get nervous making something someone’s requested!!

January 6. Yarn has arrived so I can make a start!!
I’m using 4mm needles. Doing the main colour in black 4ply Merino, gorgeously soft. And the contrast in Mulberry Pink 4ply 75% Merino / 25% Silk.

Have done Part 1. The 1st lace panel took 9g / 36m of pink yarn.

January 7. Finished part 2. 2nd lace panel took 10g / 40m of pink yarn.

January 8. Finished part 3. 3rd lace panel took 14g / 56m pink yarn

January 11. Finally finished part 4. Lace panel 4 took 17g / 68m Pink yarn. On to last part.

January12. Worked the End Part, as written, but rather than casting off here I added an extra lace panel as follows:

Part 5:
K2, kyok, k105sts. Work lace chart repeating bottom outlined repeat 25 times and the top outlined repeat 20 times. (442 sts)
Work ws & rs rows 6 times, for a total of 12 rows (478)
Work 1 ws row (480)

5th lace panel took 30g / 133m pink yarn.

January 13. Cast off with Picot edge cast off. Cast off took 20g / 80m Black yarn.

Hurrah! done!!!
Just have to block this now, although it may have to wait a few days!

January 18. Finally blocked. It’s a good job the end result is so fab because blocking this is a complete pain, I almost swore!!!
OK, I’m about 95% happy with the end result, couple of niggles, but nothing noticeable (only to me!)
I just hope my friend Mo likes it & is happy with it!!
