9/11/2014- Fairly easy knit thus far. I’m hoping that Dear Husband can assist me with mastering the art of blocking. The long, draping sides and decreases would respond well to a bit of blocking I think.
I like the new line of Bendigo Woolen Mill summer cottons. I’m hoping to order a couple of skeins of 8ply Orchid for the cabling. Looking for an excuse to bulk-order due to the sale on cotton and stellar, but need to behave myself.
27/2- Have decided to continue with stellar yarn for cable panels. It is working up nicely. Aiming for this to be ready for Nana’s big 85th birthday.
4/3/2015- I found perfect buttons at “Stitch n’ Patch”. Buttons are Susan Clark originals. Horrendously expensive, but perfect contrast and so Nana.
8/3/2015- Getting a lot of cabling done over the long weekend. The sleeve cables are done. I’m working on the neck and edging now. One half completed early hours yesterday, 2nd half of edging about 2/3 done.
30/3/2015- It’s down to the wire to finish by 1/4 (her birthday), but I am stitching the last cable edge down the bottom. Begining to contemplate blocking and weaving in ends, and hoping not to create one hot mess! Found myself repeating the words “so pretty” whilst knitting. I think the yarn and cable pattern are a nice match.
31/3/2015- Good effort last night. Now it is just a fitting with Nana for button placement and sewing them in place. Oh, and the little cable loops. Blocking???? I am possibly thinking yes, due to slight puckering, which could be passed off as styled “puff”. The cables just did not seem long enough for the edges naturally, but I get that you don’t want to be left with miles of extra cable and having to sew it in.
