i have begun my first sweater. i am in love with this pattern and am hopeful it will look most peachy over one of my handmade frocks this Fall. my gauge was not happy with picking so i gave up and went back to my childhood and am throwing this sweater. still gauge a little off as i had to go down to size 4 but i have high hopes it will fit.
after what seemed a lifetime i have got down to the clever trickery bit of making the faux pockets. i am in love with this yarn and in love with this pattern, i am beyond excited to finish off the waist band and then learn the fine art of magic loop to complete the sleeves.
under-sided about the collar, my heart keeps whispering ‘peter pan collar’ but we will see when the time comes if it whispers loud enough
right well its been a while and i have ripped back the neckline more times than i care to remember, the pleats did not work causing the sweater to pull up and not fit right. so i did some clever trickery and made a neckline fit me without pleats. i then add stitches under the arm area and cast off with crochet hook to then do a round of single crochet and then shell stitch to create a short sleeve. alas upon putting it on, it just did not fit right withe the sleeves pointing outwards. i gave up, already to frog it, happy to let it go and use the yarn for something more fitting when my friend Ve from YOTH yarns suggested i do a little pleat on the sleeves to bring them in and voila! just like that my sweater will work. i need to block it and hope the front kangaroo baby carrying pouch will soften somewhat but considering i used a tweedy wool yarn on tiny needles i am pretty delighted i pulled it off in the end with a little help from my friends!
