My hubby wears a knigjt hat I crocheted him every winter. He loves it, but it is SO OLD. I want to use my far better skills to make him a warmer and more updated hat. I am going to use this as a base, but keep the ear warmer portion long in the back.

For the back ridge: CO 17
Set up: ws: sl, k 6, PM, 3 SlWYIF, PM, K 7
RS: sl, k 6, SM, K3, SM, K7
Ws: Sl, K6, SM, K3, SM, K7

Repeat rs, ws, until long as desired. I checked length and added some GSRs along the curved edges to give it the curved shape.
