I ripped and reknit this at least three times because I didn’t read the instructions once, read the instructions wrong once, and then once I didn’t like the cast on method I chose. I also didn’t read the part about ‘to make the hat longer, lengthen the brim.’ The hat came out too short because I went down two needle sizes - because it was way too big. so now it was good and snug, but way too short. so I ripped back to right before the initial crown decreases and ended up transitioning back into ribbing, kind of flipping the ‘transition from ribbing’ chart upside down. so this is how it turned out. it’s fine, but I’d like to knit it again correctly.
