I hated the way this blanket looked without a border. a smarter knitter would have cast on their border, or at least planned for a border. not this guy! the border really makes this blanket look perfect.

re: border because I’ve gotten a few questions: you can pick up and knit a border like this OR you could plan ahead and make an I-cord edge, or a wider border or something like that to make the edges look more finished (the border would be striped in this scenario, due to the nature of mosaic knitting) .
im sure there are plenty of other options I haven’t thought of. a crocheted border might also be nice.

hi I’ve gotten a few messages about my border - it’s just a simple 6 row seed stitch pattern that I probably fudged a little bit in places. what I meant when I said plan ahead was just to consider casting on in the contrast color and knitting 6 or so rows of seed stitch border, switch back to your main color and knit the pattern as written, and then switch back to your contrast color, knit another six rows of seed stitch and cast off. then you’d only have to pick up the stitches on two sides unlike what I did, which was to add a border after I cast off so I had to pick up stitches on all four sides. this was just a suggestion to save time, the end result would look the same.
